Zone 9-10 Hoya is called wax-plant because of the fleshy, thick leaves and waxy flowers. The hoya vine's foliage in this photo is variegated. Hoyas have a wide range native to India, Australia, Borneo, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Singapore and Thailand Hoya can be tropical or sub-tropical plants. Hoya can be either terrestrial or epiphytic. Hoya can be a shrub or a vine. We know Hoya as a sprawling vine that can grow quite large. The flowers are waxy and last a long time.
